Big news in the Sydney media world this week with the announcement by Australia’s most famous shock jock Kyle Sandilands that he is about to become a father for the first time.

Fifty-year-old Sandilands made the revelation that he and fiancée Tegan Kynaston would be becoming first time parents later in the year on Tuesday morning’s edition of the Kyle & Jackie O Show on KIIS FM.

“I’m having a baby….Tegan and I are expecting a child in August,” an ecstatic Kyle told listeners, cheered on boisterously in the background by his off-air team.

Kyle’s close friend and long-time radio (and former Big Brother) co-presenter Jackie O was thrilled by the news.

“I never thought I’d see the day that Kyle would become a dad,” an elated Jackie told listeners.

It’s been a huge 12 months for Sandilands, who last July famously dethroned Ben Fordham as Sydney’s number one Breakfast host – the first and only time in over 20 years that 2GB has been beaten in the radio ratings in this timeslot.

Kyle then proposed to Kynaston, 36, in Queensland over the Christmas break, commenting at the time, “I apologise to the women of the world that I am now officially off the market!”

Not surprisingly, King Kyle is overjoyed that he is about to become a father, as he and Tegan had announced at the time of their engagement that they would be looking to start a family in 2022.

Sandilands has been no stranger to controversy during his long and successful media career, but as the ratings show, he remains as popular as ever.
